Israeli troops have entered the Gaza Strip after 5 days of relentless bombing runs geared toward defeating Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that has fired greater than 1500 rockets into the Jewish state, the Israeli military mentioned. 

“Israel Protection Forces air and floor troops are at the moment attacking within the Gaza Strip,” the military mentioned in an announcement. The dimensions of the incursion was not instantly clear.

The deployment of Israeli troops into the Palestinian territory marks a big escalation of the five-day battle and raises the prospect of a full Israeli floor invasion, the primary since a battle in 2014 killed 2,000 Palestinians and 72 Israelis.

Artillery shelling was heard deep contained in the Gaza Strip shortly earlier than the IDF’s deployment of Israeli troops into the territory, witnesses mentioned. Israel and Hamas have fought three wars because the militant group took management of the Gaza Strip in 2007.

The bottom invasion comes after lots of of Israeli strikes and hundreds of Hamas rockets killed greater than 100 Palestinians and seven Israelis.
